In the dead of the night, the phone rang loud,
A voice on the line, breaking through the silent night,
An accident took you, so suddenly gone,
And my heart shattered, as the tears flowed on with might.
We had our fight, words that cut like a knife,
Left us both wounded, and lost in strife,
I meant to call, to say “I’m sorry,”
But the news came too late, and now you’re no longer with me.
You were taken away in a heartbeat, so fast,
And I’m left with regrets that will always last,
I wanted to fix things, to make it all right,
But now I’m alone, in the depth of the night.
The weight of my promises, to forgive and to mend,
Feels so heavy now, with no one to defend,
I vow to let go of the anger that burned,
To hold onto the love, and let the pain be learned.
In the quiet moments, I think of our past,
Of the love we shared, and the memories that last,
I promise to remember, and never forget,
The love we had, even through the regret.
As I move forward with tears in my eyes,
I promise to forgive, to not let grudges rise,
For in the end, love is all that remains,
Even through the hurt, and the extreme pains.
