smiling woman embraced by her boyfriend in the rain

A Love Cut Short by walking shadow poetry.

We were just starting out, with dreams so bright,
Our wedding was recent, everything felt right,
We had just begun a life, so new and so sweet,
But fate stepped in, and knocked us off our feet.

We laughed and we planned, our future so clear,
We were so in love, with nothing to fear,
But in a cruel twist, you were taken away,
Leaving me here, with my heart in dismay.

We were building a life, with joy and with cheer,
But now there’s a void where your love used to be near,
The happiness we had turned into tears that won’t end,
And now I face a future alone, without you, my friend.

I had hoped for a lifetime, with you by my side,
But now I’m left grieving, with nowhere to hide,
I think of the moments we’ll never get to share,
And the deep ache in my heart feels like it’s too much to bear.

In my quiet moments, I cling to the past,
To the promises we made and the love that won’t last,
Though my days are now filled with sorrow and strife,
I hold on to the warmth of our brief, precious life.

I vow to remember the love that was so true,
To keep you close, as my heartaches renew,
For even in sorrow, and the pain of goodbye,
The love we shared will never truly die.

I move forward in grief, with tears on my face,
Carrying the love that time cannot erase,
And though this journey is marked by such pain,
I hold on to the love we had, through the joy and the strain.
