They might just fade away…
Not with fireworks or grand announcements,
Not with explanations that wrap everything up with a neat bow,
But with a silence that sneaks in slowly,
A silence that starts small, missed calls, shorter texts, longer gaps,
Until one day, you realize it’s not silence anymore… it’s absence
At first, you might find yourself scrolling through old conversations,
Not because you want to hold on, but because you’re trying to locate the crack,
Trying to find that one message, that single moment,
When everything began to fall apart,
The moment their words began to feel forced,
Their replies lost the warmth, and their “good mornings” didn’t feel the same.
Eventually, it dawns on you, not because someone told you,
But because you feel it,
They didn’t forget you… they just stopped choosing you.
They stopped replying,
Not necessarily because they were overwhelmed,
But perhaps because they no longer felt a need to keep you close.
They stopped showing up,
Not because their schedule changed,
But because their priorities shifted… and somehow,
You were no longer at the center.
And while you try to make sense of it,
You realize something even harder to accept,
They had already left you in their mind long before their silence reached your ears.
And yes, I know,
That realization doesn’t just hurt; it shatters.
It breaks your confidence into small, hard-to-piece-back-together pieces.
It makes you question if you were too much or maybe not enough.
You begin to wonder if it was your laugh, your timing, your softness, your flaws.
But let me tell you this, even if it’s hard to believe,
Sometimes, their silence is the loudest answer you’ll ever get.
Sometimes, people walk out without using the door,
Slipping through the cracks so quietly you blame yourself for not locking them in.
They were likely waiting for you to end things,
So they wouldn’t have to be the villain in a story they already stopped reading.
Maybe, just maybe, they had someone else in mind,
Or perhaps they were just tired of holding on.
And although it hurts,
What you need to understand is that when someone stops watering the bond,
It doesn’t matter how much love you pour in;
Eventually, the connection dries up, silent, cracked, and lifeless.
So what should you do?
You let them go.
And I don’t mean you hit “unfollow” or delete their number,
Because we both know it’s deeper than that.
I mean you release them from your expectations,
From your overthinking, from your late-night wishing and what-ifs.
You let them go from the altar you built in your mind,
Where you prayed they’d come back different,
Where you waited for a version of them that only existed in your hopes.
Give them time, yes,
Not because you’re holding on,
But because letting go doesn’t always happen overnight.
Give them the space they silently asked for,
Not to punish them, but to protect your peace.
Let them figure out what they want,
But don’t lose yourself in their indecision.
Because here’s the truth:
You should never have to beg someone to love you right.
You should never have to fight to be chosen
By someone who once claimed you were everything.
If they can live without you,
Then let them live, just not in your head,
Not in your heart, not in your sacred space.
If they can laugh without checking in,
If their world keeps turning while yours stands still,
Then it’s not love you lost,
It’s convenience.
And yes, you gave so much,
You opened your heart wide enough for two,
Loved with no brakes, gave chances that exhausted your soul.
But don’t regret any of it.
Because your love was real.
And that kind of love? It leaves fingerprints,
Even if they act like they’ve washed their hands.
So please,
Don’t keep watering a garden where nothing grows.
Don’t keep building with someone who already packed their bags.
Don’t write new chapters hoping they’ll flip back to a page they tore out.
Heal, even if it’s slow.
Breathe, even when it hurts.
Speak kind words to yourself, even when your heart is quiet.
Because one day, and I promise you this,
Someone will show up and stay.
Not just when it’s easy, not only when you’re glowing,
But even in the hard, even in the messy,
Even when you’re unsure of yourself.
That person won’t make you chase love.
They’ll offer it freely,
And you won’t have to wonder if you’re enough,
Because they’ll remind you every single day that you are.
Until then,
Love yourself so deeply that walking away
Doesn’t feel like a loss,
But a return,
A return to your peace,
Your power,
Your healing.
Let them go.
Because what’s truly meant for you will never leave quietly.
It won’t fade like smoke or slip through your fingers.
It will stay.
It will fight.
And most importantly,
It will love you loudly,
Exactly the way you deserve.
