You know…
I don’t think we really get it.
We chase vibes, we chase crowds,
but we forget the power of real friendships.
I’m not talking about the squad you party with on Friday nights.
No.
I’m talking about the ones who would answer your call at 2 a.m.,
half asleep but already grabbing their car keys,
just to drive you to the hospital.
The ones who show up,
not just when it’s fun,
but when your world is falling apart.
The ones who will sit with you in waiting rooms,
share their home when you got nowhere else to crash,
whisper hope into your ears when your heart has forgotten how to beat.
The ones who don’t just post you,
but pray for you.
The ones who don’t just say “you got this,”
but help you get it.
We think romance will save us,
and yeah, love is beautiful,
but hear me:
if you don’t have a few real friends,
you’re walking through life half-armed.
You don’t need a stadium.
You don’t need a crowd shouting your name.
You need two… maybe three…
the kind you can fall apart in front of,
and they’ll still call you home.
I can’t stress this enough,
you need real ones.
Not perfect,
but present.
Because when the lights go off,
and the crowd goes quiet,
it’s those few who will sit with you in your silence,
without needing you to perform.
Because real ones don’t just celebrate your wins,
they carry you when you can’t even lift yourself,
they see the cracks in your smile and still choose to stay.
Because life gets heavy sometimes,
and the right people won’t make you carry it alone,
they’ll step into the weight with you,
no questions asked.
