{"id":2439,"date":"2024-08-28T10:05:02","date_gmt":"2024-08-28T10:05:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/walkingshadowpoetry.com\/blog\/?p=2439"},"modified":"2024-08-28T10:05:05","modified_gmt":"2024-08-28T10:05:05","slug":"rising-from-the-shadows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walkingshadowpoetry.com\/blog\/rising-from-the-shadows\/","title":{"rendered":"Rising from the Shadows&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I used to stand in front of the mirror,<br>Staring at a face that I didn\u2019t know,<br>Fingers tracing lines I wished would disappear,<br>Eyes searching for a spark that refused to show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I heard whispers in my mind,<br>Telling me I wasn\u2019t enough,<br>Each word echoing through my soul,<br>Making every breath feel tough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I hid behind a smile,<br>Pretending I was fine,<br>But deep inside, I was crumbling,<br>Breaking down line by line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I avoided the eyes of others,<br>Afraid they\u2019d see right through,<br>That they\u2019d notice the cracks in my armor,<br>The pain I thought only I knew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But one day, something shifted,<br>A voice inside me softly spoke,<br>\u201cYou are more than your doubts,<br>You are more than what they evoke.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I started to listen to that voice,<br>And the mirror began to change,<br>The lines I once despised,<br>Became a part of my range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I saw strength in my reflection,<br>A survivor who fought to be,<br>Not just the face in the mirror,<br>But the person who\u2019s finally free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Free from the chains of self-doubt,<br>From the weight of others&#8217; words,<br>I started to walk with purpose,<br>Like a caged bird breaking free, unfurled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now when I look at that mirror,<br>I see someone brave and strong,<br>Someone who\u2019s been through the battles,<br>But kept moving all along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So if you\u2019re lost in the shadows,<br>And you\u2019re feeling like you\u2019re not enough,<br>Remember, even in the darkest night,<br>You can find a way to rise above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not about perfection,<br>Or being who you think you should be,<br>It\u2019s about loving who you are,<br>And setting your own soul free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walking Shadow Poetry Kenya<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I used to stand in front of the mirror,Staring at a face that I didn\u2019t know,Fingers tracing lines I wished would disappear,Eyes searching for a spark that refused to show.
