{"id":3035,"date":"2025-01-29T12:54:59","date_gmt":"2025-01-29T12:54:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/walkingshadowpoetry.com\/blog\/?p=3035"},"modified":"2025-01-29T12:55:04","modified_gmt":"2025-01-29T12:55:04","slug":"love-me-then-leave-me-by-walking-shadow-poetry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walkingshadowpoetry.com\/blog\/love-me-then-leave-me-by-walking-shadow-poetry\/","title":{"rendered":"Love Me, Then Leave Me by walking shadow poetry."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It started like a dream,<br>Like poetry wrapped in silk,<br>Like a love song played on repeat,<br>Like a fairytale where I was finally the main character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They called me perfect<strong> <\/strong>before they knew my flaws,<br>Made promises before they knew my past,<br>Built castles in the sky before we had a foundation on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I?<br>I believed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because who wouldn\u2019t want love<br>That doesn\u2019t hesitate?<br>Who wouldn\u2019t want a heart<br>That beats only for them?<br>Who wouldn\u2019t want a love so intense<br>It burns like wildfire?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here\u2019s the thing about wildfires<br>They don\u2019t keep you warm,<br>They consume you whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At first, it was sweet words,<br>Messages that never stopped,<br>Good morning, good afternoon, good night,<br>I miss you, I need you, I love you,<br>Too much, too soon, too fast,<br>But I mistook obsession for devotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They called me<strong> <\/strong>the one before they knew my middle name,<br>Said forever when we hadn\u2019t even lived a season,<br>Held my hand so tight,<br>I mistook the pressure for passion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when I gasped for air,<br>When I tried to slow down,<br>When I said, \u201cLet\u2019s take our time,\u201d<br>Their love turned to lightning,<br>Bright, electric then gone in a flash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suddenly, the messages slowed,<br>The calls stopped,<br>The attention they gave so freely<br>Became a currency I had to beg for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What happened to the one who swore<br>I was their moon, their stars, their everything?<br>What happened to the one who said<br>They couldn\u2019t breathe without me?<br>Did they suddenly learn how to survive?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or was I never the air they needed?<br>Just a temporary high,<br>A game of chase,<br>A love so grand,<br>Until it wasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And there I stood,<br>Dizzy from the whiplash,<br>Heart in my hands,<br>Wondering if I imagined it all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But love doesn\u2019t drown you in devotion<br>Only to starve you of affection.<br>Love doesn\u2019t rush like a hurricane<br>Only to leave you in silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Love is not intensity,<br>It\u2019s consistency.<br>It\u2019s not drowning,<br>It\u2019s breathing together.<br>It\u2019s not possession,<br>It\u2019s presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So no,<br>I don\u2019t want love that burns bright and fades fast.<br>I don\u2019t want a heart that races just to run away.<br>I don\u2019t want to be showered in words<br>Only to be abandoned in actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because love is not an explosion,<br>It\u2019s a steady flame.<br>And next time,<br>I\u2019ll wait for the fire<br>That warms me,<br>Not the one that leaves me in ashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>@admin<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It started like a dream,Like poetry wrapped in silk,Like a love song played on repeat,Like a fairytale where I was finally the main character.
