{"id":3510,"date":"2026-01-09T13:57:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T13:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/walkingshadowpoetry.com\/blog\/?p=3510"},"modified":"2026-01-09T13:57:16","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T13:57:16","slug":"i-strongly-fell-in-love-in-the-wrong-arms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walkingshadowpoetry.com\/blog\/i-strongly-fell-in-love-in-the-wrong-arms\/","title":{"rendered":"I strongly fell in love in the wrong arms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I knew I had to let go.<br>I knew\u2026<br>the way you know fire burns<br>but still hold your hand close<br>because the warmth feels like home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I knew I had to detach,<br>to step back,<br>to allow my chest to breathe again<br>because loving you<br>was slowly teaching my lungs how to suffocate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What we had was getting too strong,<br>too deep for something that was never mine.<br>You were never mine.<br>You belonged to someone else.<br>You loved your girlfriend.<br>You loved her loudly,<br>confidently,<br>without confusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And still\u2026<br>I stayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I stayed hoping one day<br>you would wake up and choose me.<br>That one day you would change my name in your phone<br>from \u201cbestie\u201d<br>to \u201cthe one I love.\u201d<br>I stayed hoping love could be convinced,<br>that patience could rewrite loyalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was yearning.<br>Waiting.<br>Settling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was in a situationship<br>where I knew, very well,<br>I was just a third wheel<br>pretending to be a destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the bond\u2026<br>the bond was rare.<br>I had never felt anything like it.<br>It came with peace,<br>the kind that feels suspicious<br>because it grows in the wrong place<br>but still feels right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that made leaving harder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wanted to let go.<br>I wanted distance.<br>But I didn\u2019t know how.<br>I still don\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because detaching is not as simple<br>as the word makes it sound.<br>It\u2019s not just walking away,<br>it\u2019s tearing yourself out<br>of memories you built too fast,<br>too deep,<br>too recklessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We made too many memories.<br>More than we should have.<br>More than was healthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now here I am,<br>in love with my best friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The one I call brother.<br>The one who calls me sister.<br>Yet sometimes we act like the labels lie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We get jealous.<br>We get overprotective<br>for reasons we can\u2019t explain.<br>We talk for hours,<br>about nothing important,<br>yet somehow it feels like everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We go out on random dates<br>and call them \u201changouts.\u201d<br>We cross lines<br>and pretend they were never there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Best friends don\u2019t do this\u2026<br>but we do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I wish I knew how to stop.<br>I wish I knew where the boundary is<br>after you\u2019ve erased it so many times<br>it no longer exists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wish love came with warning signs<br>that screamed loud enough<br>before your heart got involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because now I\u2019m stuck<br>between what feels good<br>and what is right.<br>Between holding on<br>and finally choosing myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the truth is,<br>letting go hurts.<br>But staying\u2026<br>might cost me more than I can afford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1Ad6gZa6Bf\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1Ad6gZa6Bf<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/walkingshadowpoetry.com\/blog\/growth-is-an-extreme-powerful-personal-choice\/\">Growth is an extreme powerful personal choice<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Turns Out I Was Right \u2013 I Saw It Coming but     Spoken Word by Walking Shadow Poetry\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xacEsG4Cyfg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I knew I had to let go.I knew\u2026the way you know fire burnsbut still hold your hand closebecause the warmth feels like home.
