{"id":3525,"date":"2026-01-19T11:53:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-19T11:53:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/walkingshadowpoetry.com\/blog\/?p=3525"},"modified":"2026-01-19T11:54:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-19T11:54:23","slug":"rape-is-purely-evil-and-totally-unjustifiable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walkingshadowpoetry.com\/blog\/rape-is-purely-evil-and-totally-unjustifiable\/","title":{"rendered":"Rape is purely evil and totally unjustifiable"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It must be stated clearly: rape is never justified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No excuse is ever found where a person\u2019s soul has died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dignity is ripped away, and permanent trauma is sewn,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Into the hearts of survivors whose pain is left unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sexual harassment is a line that must never be crossed;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When boundaries are broken, a person\u2019s peace is lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arguments are heard where the victim is blamed,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where the choice of their clothing is cruelly named.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is said that the night was too late for a walk,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or that drunkenness invited the predator\u2019s stalk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is claimed that a dance was a silent &#8220;yes,&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As if a rhythm gives a right to cause such distress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it must be remembered: if consent was not given,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A crime was committed, and a life was un-driven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This burden is carried by women and men alike,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the lightning of trauma does not care where it strikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sacredness of the act is so often ignored,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the bodies of the vulnerable are treated like a board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The blame is turned back on the ones who were hurt,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Told that the &#8220;temptation&#8221; was found in a skirt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because money was sent, or because a door was locked,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The truth of the assault is too often mocked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stories are hidden of the boy in the room,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where power was used to seal his quiet doom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or the girl from the shadows, in need of a hand,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whose desperation was used as a platform to stand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cruel things are done by those who should lead,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ignoring the cries, ignoring the need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The child who could barely speak a word was taken,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her life was discarded, her tiny soul shaken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The student was drugged while she thought she was safe,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Left with a memory that she cannot erase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The man was betrayed and broken by peers,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His masculinity used to fuel his own fears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The wife is ignored in her own marriage bed,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where &#8220;price&#8221; is the reason consent is left dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rape is not justifiable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The law is clear, and the act is illegal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No defense should be built for what is purely evil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The injustice is covered by a society\u2019s veil,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the stories are leaking; the system is frail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The silence must be broken.
