I stayed longer than I should have.
Not because I didn’t know better…
but because I hoped things would change.
I told myself, “Maybe tomorrow will feel different.”
I kept giving chances to things that kept taking my peace.
I kept calling it loyalty…
when deep down, it was fear of starting over.
I remember waking up one morning,
staring at the same situation again—
the same confusion, the same weight on my chest,
and I realized… nothing in me was growing there anymore.
It wasn’t loud.
It didn’t break overnight.
It just slowly started stealing my joy
one small piece at a time.
And that’s the thing about some seasons,
they don’t end with a door slamming.
They end with your heart quietly getting tired.
I prayed for clarity.
But God didn’t just change the situation…
He started changing me.
He showed me that not every open door is from Him.
And not every familiar place is where I belong.
So I had to make a hard decision.
Not because I stopped caring…
but because I finally started caring about myself.
Walking away didn’t feel strong at first.
It felt like loss.
It felt like failure.
It felt like I was leaving something unfinished.
But later, I understood…
I wasn’t walking away from my destiny.
I was walking toward it.
Because sometimes,
the biggest step forward
looks like letting go of what keeps pulling you back.
Looks like letting go,
of what keeps pulling you back.
And the strange thing is,
the peace I was looking for
was waiting on the other side of goodbye.
Not because everything became perfect,
but because I was no longer fighting
to keep alive what had already died.
I learned that courage
isn’t always standing and holding on.
Sometimes courage is packing your bags,
wiping your tears,
and trusting God enough
to leave without knowing every detail of what’s next.
Now when I look back,
I don’t regret walking away.
I regret all the years I spent
convincing myself to stay.
Because some blessings don’t arrive
until you make room for them,
and some new chapters don’t begin
until you finally turn the page.
