It’s Not Your Fault by walking shadow poetry.

Hey,
I see you there,
Sitting with the weight of “what ifs” on your shoulders.
What if you’d called?
What if you’d texted?
What if you’d shown up just one second sooner?
Would it have changed anything?
Would they still be here?

But listen,
Even though it feels unbearable, this wasn’t your fault.
The pain they carried wasn’t something you caused,
Nor was it something you could cure.
Sometimes, no matter how much we care,
The battles inside someone’s mind are far too heavy to share.

I know you think you should have done more.
However, how were you to know their smile was a mask?
How could you have guessed their silence was a cry for help?
You loved them the best way you knew how,
And while it might not seem like it right now,
Your love truly mattered.

Yet blaming yourself won’t rewrite the ending of their story.
Instead, take their memory and let it push you to live boldly.
Laugh louder because life is short.
Love deeper since connections heal.
Above all, carry their name as a reminder to spread kindness
To yourself
And to others who might need a little extra light.

You’re human.
Not a mind-reader,
Not a miracle-worker.
Rather, you were a friend who cared deeply.
So, release the blame.
Hold on to the love.
And always remember,
They wouldn’t want you to carry this weight alone.
