I used to search for love in every corner,
In every face, in every word,
Hoping someone would see me,
And finally, I’d be heard.
But the more I searched,
The more I felt alone,
Trying to find my worth
In places I’d never known.
I thought love was something
I had to earn,
A prize for the perfect,
A lesson I had to learn.
But one day, I got tired,
Of looking outside,
So I turned inward,
To see what I could find.
It wasn’t easy
The mirror didn’t lie,
I saw the flaws, the scars,
And it made me want to cry.
But I kept looking,
Deeper this time,
Past the surface,
Past everything this phase.
I saw the pain,
The struggles I’d faced,
And I realized
I needed to embrace
The parts of me
That I’d pushed away,
The parts of me
That were waiting to stay.
So I started to speak
Kind words to my soul,
Told myself I was worthy,
That I was whole.
I learned to forgive,
To let go of the past,
To love myself first,
And make that love last.
Now, when I look in the mirror,
I see more than just a face,
I see someone who’s been through it all,
And still found grace.
Self-love isn’t a destination,
It’s a journey, a choice,
It’s about finding your own worth,
And listening to your inner voice.
So, if you’re searching for love,
Start with the one you see,
Because the greatest love you’ll ever find,
Is learning to love me.
