Rising from the Shadows…

I used to stand in front of the mirror,
Staring at a face that I didn’t know,
Fingers tracing lines I wished would disappear,
Eyes searching for a spark that refused to show.

I heard whispers in my mind,
Telling me I wasn’t enough,
Each word echoing through my soul,
Making every breath feel tough.

I hid behind a smile,
Pretending I was fine,
But deep inside, I was crumbling,
Breaking down line by line.

I avoided the eyes of others,
Afraid they’d see right through,
That they’d notice the cracks in my armor,
The pain I thought only I knew.

But one day, something shifted,
A voice inside me softly spoke,
“You are more than your doubts,
You are more than what they evoke.”

I started to listen to that voice,
And the mirror began to change,
The lines I once despised,
Became a part of my range.

I saw strength in my reflection,
A survivor who fought to be,
Not just the face in the mirror,
But the person who’s finally free.

Free from the chains of self-doubt,
From the weight of others’ words,
I started to walk with purpose,
Like a caged bird breaking free, unfurled.

Now when I look at that mirror,
I see someone brave and strong,
Someone who’s been through the battles,
But kept moving all along.

So if you’re lost in the shadows,
And you’re feeling like you’re not enough,
Remember, even in the darkest night,
You can find a way to rise above.

It’s not about perfection,
Or being who you think you should be,
It’s about loving who you are,
And setting your own soul free.
