The Social Media Trap by walking shadow poetry

You wake up, phone in hand,
Scrolling before you even stand,
Eyes glued to the endless feed,
What’s the latest? Who’s in the lead?

Hours fly, but nothing’s gained,
Just more faces, more names retained.
You’re lost in stories that aren’t your own,
Addicted to screens, but feeling alone.

Every like, every view,
Feels like a hit, something new,
But deep inside, you know it’s clear,
The real world’s slipping, year by year.

You watch them live, you watch them win,
But where do your own dreams begin?
You’ve got talent, potential untapped,
Yet here you are, completely trapped.

You tell yourself, “Just five more minutes,”
But five turns into hours, limitless.
Another day lost, chasing the thrill,
But no closer to what’s real.

It’s time to break the endless scroll,
Step outside, take back control.
There’s a world out there, waiting for you,
So many things you could actually do.

Start with a passion, something you love,
A hobby, a project, a goal to rise above.
It won’t be easy, but it’s worth the fight,
To reclaim your time and step into the light.

Put the phone down, just for a while,
Reconnect with things that make you smile.
The likes will fade, but what you build,
That’s the real joy, the real thrill.

You don’t need the endless feed to thrive,
There’s so much more in just being alive.
Create your own story, one to be proud,
Step away from the screen, stand out from the crowd.

So next time you feel that pull, that crave,
Remember, your life isn’t theirs to save.
It’s your time to shine, your time to grow,
Turn off the noise and let your own light show.
