man and woman near grass field

Us by walking shadow poetry.

One… two… three… four… five.
Five years of “us” in a world that says, “love isn’t real.”
But here we are
Still standing, still smiling,
Still choosing each other every single day.

They said love would hurt,
That it would break us,
That we’d be just another story
Of two people who couldn’t make it.
But look at us
We’ve proved them wrong.

It hasn’t always been easy.
We’ve had our fights,
Our silent nights,
Our moments of wondering if we’d survive.
But love isn’t about perfection
It’s about staying when things get messy,
Holding on when the world says let go.

Five years
And I still get butterflies when I see you smile.
Five years
And I still can’t believe how lucky I am.
You’re more than my partner.
You’re my peace,
My home,
My forever.

I want to grow old with you,
Watch the wrinkles form on our faces
As our laughter lines tell stories of years well lived.
I want to tell our grandchildren,
“True love is real
And we’re the proof.”

So, here’s to five
To every challenge we’ve faced,
To every moment we’ve shared,
And to the many years ahead.
Let’s keep choosing each other,
Day after day,
Because love like this?
It’s worth it.
